FAQ’s

Does it hurt?

No. It should not hurt if done properly. It may itch a little as the yeast is being drawn into the ear canal. If you have any pain, you need to let us know immediately! Most people fall asleep during the process!

How long does it take?

It takes approximately an 2 hours for the service.

How often should I have it done?

That varies depending on your health . Most of the time we suggest that you do three sessions in a fairly short period of time. Say within a week or two. Sometimes it may take a few more sessions to get you completely cleared out. It is suggested to plan on a maintenance program, so that you don’t get plugged up again. A few times a year is what is recommended unless you have an excessive amount of ear wax build up, or you fight chronic ear infections, sinus problems, allergies or sore throats very often, if so, you should try at least once a month.

Oh my gosh, what is that?

That is a candle that has been sectioned and cut open. The black at the top end is burned beeswax. Some of the white powder is the burnt linen that give the candle its shape. The other powdery stuff is yeast and cellular debris and the thicker dark yellow chunks are ear wax.detox therapy spa ear candling5

Many times if you hold the candle incorrectly and it doesn’t make a good connection with the ear canal, I’ve found that thereĀ are no chunks of wax, even though the candle is burning down. Earwaxes, can be dark yellow, brown and even green. I’ve seen big chunks and long strings come from the same ear.

Who shouldn’t do ear coning?

When kids are old enough to lie still long enough to finish a session, it’s okay for them to have a treatment done. Usually we only use one candle and we don’t do the Bio-Touch and massage for children, so the session time is about 30 minutes.

It is not recommended to a have session done for anyone who has an active ear infection. You should see a medical professional to help get rid of the infection. Once the infection is gone, I would recommend going to a Chiropractor, to help realign the neck which may be tweaking the Eustachian Tubes and not letting them drain properly. Of course after the infection is gone, coning will be safe to do.

Is ear candling for everyone?

No! You should not have ear candling performed if you have any damage to the eardrum, ear tubes, congenital hearing loss, ankylosis of the stapes, acute mastoiditis, or recent surgical procedures to the ear.
