If you look at the picture, you can see that acupuncture is safe even for babies. Some spots on the body are more sensitive than others. The hands, feet, and face have a lot of nerves in them, making them a little more sensitive than say the back or leg. As with all things, some people have a higher pain threshold than others, so we can’t say for sure exactly what it would be like for you. Most of the time you will only experience a moment of discomfort in sensitive areas. Many people fall asleep during treatments.
Acupuncture needles can vary in size, but most are very short and thin. It just takes a tap from the acupuncturist’s finger to insert the needle into your skin.
That varies from person to person. After Loren does a complete evaluation, he will then decide which areas need to be needled to help relieve your specific issues. Different issues need different areas needled. He will use as many needles as necessary to help you.
In Chinese acupuncture, the needles are inserted more vertically, allowing the needle to penetrate into the energy meridian and really get that energy flowing. Even though it is a little deeper by nature, it is still at most, just a little uncomfortable in certain spots. I’ve personally felt the “chi energy” hit the needle. It is very effective. This is usually the method that Loren uses.
Loren is very knowledgeable about symptoms and root causes. After taking your health history and examining you, your body will tell him where he needs to insert needles.
As with anything else concerning your health, that will vary from person to person, depending
on what your problems are. Many conditions will benefit immediately and others may take multiple sessions. Headaches and backaches seem to react very quickly to acupuncture. Years of consistent migraines may take longer. You may have to adjust the foods that you eat, or give up caffeine and other toxins that you put into your body that cause reactions. You just won’t know until you are evaluated and treated.
The initial consultation usually takes approximately 90 minutes.
Follow up treatments take about 60 minutes.
